Definition of ACH. The Automated Clearing House is a division of the Federal Reserve.
ACH is an electronic payment system that is used by the Federal Reserve as an alternative to paper checks. The ACH process has been used for many years by established companies that you are familiar with. These include payroll processing, loans, health clubs, insurance premiums and more recently the utility industry is embracing this technology and allowing their customers to pay online utilizing the ACH feature of pay by check online.
ACH has proven itself to be a reliable and economical way for professionals to process payments through the Federal Reserve for more than 30 years. With this kind of proven record ACH is definitely the preferred choice for processing funds from the banking industry.
Since ACH products started about 30 years ago it is hard to imagine that we have not all been affected at one time or another by this great service. Just a few examples are, direct deposit of payroll, Government benefits, IRS refunds, insurance premium collections, health club membership or any product or payment you have processed online.
There is no minimum amount. Maximum amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis.
Typical credit/debit card funds are released in 2 business days. ACH funds are typically released after 5 banking days, although shorter hold periods are available on approval from our underwriting department.
